Third Quarter Project - The assignments for the project were sent home last week. The kids should get to work on this as soon as possible. It is very crucial not to wait until the last day to get this done. This project will account for most of the science grade for the third quarter.

Spelling Bee - Congratulations to Fernando and Sabrina for winning the class spelling bee. We will have the school wide spelling bee in which these two will compete this Friday at 9 a.m.

Attendance - We have had a lot of students missing school. If at all possible it is very important that the students make it to school. We are learning a lot of very important concepts that a lot of the students are missing.

Book Orders - I sent three book orders home last week. I will be making two orders this month, on the 13th and 27th. This is a great opportunity to get chapter books to read for the reading log. Scholastic always has great deals.

Just a Reminder!! - Remember to keep an eye out for the reading logs and progress reports. These need to be signed and returned to school.

1/16 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day - No School!

1/20 - Spelling Bee - I will be sending home a study guide today, so the kids can prepare for the bee. The class bee will be on the 18th. This will determine who will be participating in the school bee on the 20th.

1/23 - 100th day - In the past the school has received money based on the amount of students present on the 100th day. This has been changed and they now take an average of overall attendance. Because of this it is very important that the students make it to school as often as possible, and they stay throughout the entire day.

Welcome Back!! I hope everyone had a great break! Thank-you to all of you who donated treats for the Christmas party, we all had a great time.

Reading Logs - I will be sending home a new reading log for the month of January. Be sure that you are still signing these and returning them to school every Monday. The students need to read five times a week for 25 minutes. We are still working with the Book-It program. If the reading logs are turned in every week the students will receive a pizza coupon at the end of the month.

12/15 - Holiday Concert - We will be having our annual holiday concert at Grace chapel on Pima. We will be leaving here at 8:45 and walking over. All students must be here on time. The performance will begin around 9:00. We would love to see you all there! The dress for this will be blue jeans with a Hawaiian shirt. If you do not have a Hawaiian shirt they can wear a christmas shirt or a red school shirt.

12/16 - Report Card Day - This will be a half day and we will not be having after-school. I will be passing out the report cards and gifts. If your child will not be here on this day, please let me know in advance so I can get their stuff together for Thursday. We will also be having our Christmas party on Friday. We will be having a gift exchange. If your child would like to participate in this they will need to bring a wrapped gift to school that is no more than $5 and will be appropriate for both a girl and a boy. 2nd Quarter History Reports!!!! - The reports are due this Wednesday!! Be sure that you get these turned in on time. They will be worth the majority of the history grade for the second quarter.

Reading Logs - I sent home the new reading logs for the month of December last Thursday. Be sure that you are still getting these turned in every Monday!

Holiday Program - Our concert will be on Thursday the 15th. We will be performing at Grace church around 9:00 a.m. Be sure that the permission slips are turned in by this date. The kids will need to wear blue jeans with a Hawaiian shirt. If you do not have one they can wear a red shirt or Christmas shirt. Please be sure that all the students are here on time this day. We will be headed over to Grace church soon after school starts.

End of Semester Business - All work will need to be turned in by this Friday!! Friday the 16th will be the last day of the quarter. Report cards and Christmas gifts will be handed out on Friday. If your child will not be here on this day, please let me know in advance so I can get things ready for them. It will be a half day and we will not be serving lunch or having after-school. If you have any questions regarding work that needs to be turned in please contact me as soon as possible.

Reading Logs - I am seeing fewer reading logs as the weeks go by. Be sure to keep on top of these. They are due every Monday and need to have five slots filled in for the week. I will be sending home a new reading log with a new format for the month of October. We are starting the Book-It program and those students that meet the goal for the month will receive a coupon for a free pizza.

Progress Reports - I am also seeing fewer progress reports. These reports are to let you know how your child has behaved in class as well as if they have turned in all of their homework. Keep an eye out for these each week. They need to be signed and turned in by the end of the week.

Important Dates and Class News

8/22 - Entertainment Book Sale Starts - All money raised this year will go towards technology in the classroom. If you are not able to sell the books please return them to school.

8/25 - Picture Day - Uniforms must be worn on this day. You will be able to dress down for pictures in the spring.

8/29 - Book Fair Starts - This is a great opportunity to get books for your reading log!

8/30 - Skate Night - Our skate night will be at Skate Country from 6-8 p.m.

8/31 - Open House - Come and join us here at school anytime between 6 and 8 p.m.

9/2 - Book Fair Ends - The Book Fair will be open during the open house.

9/5 - No School - Labor Day

Progress Reports - Starting this Friday I will be sending home progress reports with the students that will need to be signed and returned on Monday. This will give you information on missing homework and behavior in class. If you have any questions or concerns based on these reports please either send in a note attached to the progress report or send me an email.

WELCOME TO MS. WILSON'S FOURTH GRADE CLASS!!!

We have a lot of great things planned for this year and I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of you throughout the 2011-2012 school year. I will be posting the homework assignments as well as any important dates or class news on this blog throughout the year. Please feel free to check in as often as you like. Aug. 11th - First Day of School!!!

Class News:

First Day of School - The students will need to bring their supplies with them on the first day of school. Parents, keep an eye out for papers that will need to be filled out and returned to school, these will be sent home on the first day along with a class handbook. Please take some time to go over the handbook with your child.
